Characteristics:
Tsing Yi North/South Bridges comprise 3 vehicular and pedestrian bridges connecting Tsing Yi with Kwai Chung and Tsuen Wan. Tsing Tsuen Bridge (also known as Tsing Yi North Bridge) was built in 1987. It connects Tsing Yi north with Tsuen Wan. Towards the south lie 3 bridges across Rambler Channel. Tsing Yi Bridge (also known as Tsing Yi South Bridge), built in 1974, is 610 m long. Cheung Tsing Bridge, linking with Tsing Kwai Highways, was opened in 1997. It is a three-lane dual carriageway and 500 m long. In 1998, Kwai Tsing Bridge (also known as duplicate Tsing Yi South Bridge) was built to the south of Tsing Yi Bridge to accommodate the growing traffic in Tsing Yi Container Terminal 9. The two Tsing Yi South bridges provide a total of 6 lanes for traffic, with 3 lanes in each direction.
