Characteristics:
The Museum is located at the former Flagstaff House at Cotton Tree Drive in Central, inside Hong Kong Park. It was the home of Commander-in-chief of the British forces from 1932 to 1978. The house was built in 1846 and is one of the oldest colonial buildings in Hong Kong. The outlook of the house is similar to that of the Queen's House at Greenwich. It is a 2-storey house, white in colour with a black roof. The corridor and the columns at the ground floor were designed in the style of Doric Order and Lonic Order. In front of the side entrance are stone lions. It was said that they are to ward off evils. The house was turned into a museum in 1984. The museum is declared as Grade 1 Declared Monument in 1989.
