MODIFIED FIREARMS AND BLANK AMMUNITION

No genuine arms and ammunition can be used for filming in Hong Kong. Modified firearms and blank ammunition for filming must be licensed or exempted from licence by the Commissioner of Police.

Anyone planning to use or handle modified firearms and blank ammunition for filming must contact the Police Licensing Office to obtain an Exemption Permit at a prescribed fee, at least 10 working days beforehand. A separate approval notice issued by the TV & Films Liaison Section, Police Public Relations Branch (PPRB) should be sought for the use of modified firearms and blank ammunition for filming, on each occasion. The completed application form should be submitted three working days before filming. If shooting is to take place inside a private or Government property, a copy of the agreement for such use is needed.
