THE HONG KONG FILM INDUSTRY

Hong Kong is one of the world's major film exporters and producers. In 2015, 59 locally produced films were released and about HK$154 million worth of films in the form of videotapes, DVDs and other compact discs were exported.

Hong Kong enjoys a wealth of advanced film production services and professional filmmaking personnel, making Hong Kong films better known on the international scene. Over the past decade, Hong Kong films and talents have won over 400 international awards. The outstanding achievement of Hong Kong's film industry is internationally recognised.

Hong Kong has long been a popular filming location for overseas filmmakers. In 2015 and 2016, foreign feature films that have been shot in Hong Kong include Skiptrace (US), Lady Bloodfight (US), Snowden (US), Geostorm (US), Checkmate (US), Bounty Hunter (Korea) and Ghost in the Shell (US).
